A win for the gin!

Wahoo! - our wee Gin Project is now award winning! Botanic are stoked to win a He iti Pounamu Award of Excellence at the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects 2024 awards held at the Beehive in Wellington on Friday 17 May.

Ahakoa he iti, he pounamu
Although small, it is of great value

The award is given to projects that demonstrate the added value Landscape Architecture can bring to any project regardless of scale. The awards jury said:
"Promotion of landscape through taste is not new but the taste of urban flora through the crafting of gin, and as promotion of a practice launched by Botanic, is unique, intriguing, educational, and participatory. Participants in the project forage for urban foliage and flowers, learn about plant properties and have fun creating their own flavour of gin. The branding success for Botanic is now an annual event and we applaud this originality"

Big ups to our design community who foraged the 15 fresh botanicals and co-crafted the gin together - all to create the ‘taste of our urban plantings’. Kudos to the awards jury for recognising a variety of values which aren’t landscape built form.
